University of Vermont Offers Travel Scholarships for HS Seniors

university of vermontHigh school seniors can explore the campus of University of Vermont during Discovering UVM weekends.  Geared toward students from underrepresented groups, they will spend two days in residence halls with a UVM student host, attend a class, and learn about the college application process. Discovering UVM participants will receive free room and board for the program. A travel grant (PDF) is available to help with the cost of traveling to UVM if needed.

There are three weekends to choose from: October 18, October 25, and November 1, 2015.

To be considered, students should have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of B (3.0) or better. Applicants should be on track to have completed the following by graduation:

  • 4 years of English
  • 3 years of math (including algebra 1, geometry and algebra 2 or the equivalent)
  • 3 years of science
  • 2 years of social science
  • 2 years of the same foreign language

Students should complete the application by:

  • October 3 for October 18
  • October 10 for October 25
  • October 17 for November 1

Students will also need to submit a high school transcript, letter of recommendation from their counselor, parental consent and medical form.
