If you haven’t nailed down summer plans for your student, don’t worry, UCLA still has spaces available in a variety of summer intensives. While they tend to be pricey, UCLA offers full or partial scholarships for CA high school students enrolled in a single academic course or summer intensive.
Their Summer Scholars scholarship will be awarded based on academic ability (and artistic ability, if applicable), as well as financial need. Financial need is determined by Low Income Limits as defined by the State of California. Priority will be given to those who have not had any comparable experience.
Awards may cover summer fees for a single academic course or summer fees and/or housing for a single Summer Institute. Awards may not cover travel costs, textbooks, or other course materials. This year $50,000 is available to support selected high school students. About 20-30 partial or full scholarships will be awarded. The final award amount will reflect the summer fees of the eligible Summer Institute or the academic course the applicant is enrolled in. A limited amount of scholarships are available, get your applications in before the deadline of April 1, 2015.
The summer intensives which include institutes in performing arts, nanoscience lab, architecture and more, are filling up. Go here to see what’s still available.

- Registered and attending a high school in the state of California
