GALAIf you have a daughter, it looks like you’ll have some great options for public all-girls middle and high schools in Los Angeles for the upcoming school year.

Girls Academic Leadership Academy (GALA), (not to be confused with GALS, an all-girls charter middle school) will be a 6th through 12th grade public school part of LAUSD. At full capacity by the 2020 academic year, they will have 100 girls per grade level in grades 6 through 12.

For the 2016-17 academic school year – their start up year, they are only accepting applicants for grade 6 (currently in grade 5), and grade 9 (currently in grade 8).

GALA provides a highly rigorous college preparatory education in an all-girls environment. Their focus is science, technology, engineering and mathematics with particular emphasis on computer technology. Applicants should be ready and willing to accept the demands of a challenging academic course load.

GALA is an environment that is exclusively devoted to the education of young women. Their all-girls environment fosters collaboration between the school community, girls and their families. GALA’s core values of excellence, leadership, and wellness are instilled throughout every facet of the school.

GALA is open to all girls within LAUSD boundaries and is located on the Los Angeles High School campus in a separate building at:

4650 W. Olympic Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90019
