If you have a middle or high school student in Los Angeles interested in animation, sign them up for a three-day animation retreat sponsored by youTHink. Students will create a stop motion animation PSA about a social issue over the course of three days.
The program runs from 10 – 4, November 21 – 23, 2015 at the Autry National Center.
Students can register for FREE here, the deadline is November 9, 2015. They must plan to attend ALL three days.
If your student wants to combine art and social activism, you may want to consider having them join youTHink. It’s an arts and education program offered by the Zimmer Children’s Museum that works to empower youth to find and use their voices to take action for positive social change.
They offer a Student Ambassador program, open for students in grades 7 – 12. This leadership program runs from August to June (application period will reopen in April) and meets three times a month for trainings and planning. Ambassadors will help lead youTHink’s weekend events that range from service projects, art education, and advocacy for social justice.
