Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo offers day and residential summer camps for middle and high school students interested in engineering. Engineering Possibilities in College (EPIC) is open for students in grades 6 – 11.
Students will design, build and test their own engineering project. They’ll also learn about real-world projects from professional engineers. Past participants include Engineering Professionals from Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Trust Automation, Lockheed Martin, Zurn Wilkins, Applied Materials, Melfred Borzall and Next Intent.
Cal Poly students will also share their projects, such as satellites, prosthetic hands, race cars, concrete canoes and other products they’ve developed.
It is summer and they don’t want to make camp all work and no play. Students will experience life on a university campus and meet new friends during activities that may include rock climbing, bowling, lawn games and hikes to the Cal Poly “P.” Engineers from area companies will visit as guest speakers, EPIC staff will raffle off fun items and hand out free gifts.
Deadline to register for camp and apply for full and partial scholarships is April 15, 2017.
