USA TODAY College is looking for undergraduate student journalists to join their multimedia reporting program. Your student should have a strong understanding of what the USA TODAY College audience wants — and even the things they don’t know they want!

Collegiate correspondents will research, pitch, report and produce one multimedia story per week for USA TODAY College. The program is approximately 17 weeks long with participating students reporting remotely from their respective campuses. Their work will appear on USA TODAY and across Gannett’s nationwide network of 93+ media organizations. Go here to apply.

To be eligible to apply, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student
  • Have excellent news judgment
  • Be able to write clean, tight copy
  • Have exceptional multimedia storytelling skills
  • Live and die by AP Style
  • Be social media savvy
  • Have original ideas and a driven, self-starter approach
  • Be comfortable working on and meeting deadlines
  • Have a finger on the pulse of what matters to Millennials and what’s trending

These multimedia journalists will ideally:

  • Have experience working with WordPress
  • Be confident and competent with all aspects of visual storytelling, including – but not limited to — Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, still photography and recording/editing audio
  • Have headline writing experience
  • Be SEO savvy

Important Dates: 

  • July 8 – 20: Application is open
  • July 24: Notification to those moving to second round of application process
  • July 31: Notification to those selected for final round of application process
  • August 3 – 7: Correspondent Interviews
  • August 9: Summer 2015 Collegiate Correspondents notified & Contributing Writer Program invitations issued
  • August 24: Program begins
  • December 18: Program ends
